Sweet Varieties

Cal Sweet offers multiple varieties and color categories, along with multiple grades and pack styles. We sell wholesale to retailers, wholesalers/distributors and direct to consumers at our shed.

Orange
An orange skinned, orange-fleshed sweetpotato. Varieties include Jewell, Covington, Bellevue, and Beauregard. When cooked, the meat is super-sweet and very moist, especially as compared to pale yellow- or white-fleshed types

Red
A red skinned, orange-fleshed sweetpotato. Varieties include Garnet, Diane, Vermillion, and Burgundy. Like orange-skinned sweetpotatoes, when cooked, the meat is very sweet and moist.

White
With pale yellow-gold skin and pale yellow or white flesh, it’s the most potato-like of sweetpotatoes. Varieties include Jersey, Bonita, O’Henry, DS White, and Hannah. The meat is only mildly sweet and a little more firm and dry than orange-fleshed varieties.

Purple
With pale yellow or white flesh, purple-skinned varieties include Murasaki and are sometimes referred to as Batata, Boniato, Japanese, Oriental, or Korean. Like white-skinned sweetpotatoes, the meat is only mildly sweet and a little more firm and dry.
